Bloomfield College Students Network with Hiring Companies at Spring Career Fair

On Thursday, March 30, 2017, the Center for Career Development held its annual Spring Career and Volunteer Expo. The fair provided Bloomfield College students with the opportunity to network with 30 employers from various industries recruiting for part-time, full-time, and internship positions.

A number of companies, both national and local, such as ADP; the FBI; New Jersey Performing Arts Center; the YMCA of Montclair; Kinder Smile Foundation; numerous healthcare companies; and police departments gathered in Westminster Hall Room 110 for two hours, talking and trading information with Bloomfield College students.

Over 200 students attended, most in business attire, and with resumes in hand.

Along with job opportunities, the day was also designed to help students get to know local companies and hone interview skills.

One company that was actively seeking Bloomfield College juniors was aforementioned ADP, a comprehensive global provider of cloud-based Human Capital Management (HCM) solutions that unite HR, payroll, talent, time, tax and benefits administration, and a leader in business outsourcing services, analytics and compliance expertise.

“We are pleased to have received over 40 applications from Bloomfield College students,” said Kate Sparano, the University Recruiter for ADP, who noted her team was impressed with the career event and turnout.

The event was a success, with a number of students leaving with offers or follow-up interviews scheduled.

“The career fair was great. There were a lot of employers, like ADP, offering amazing job and internship positions for students,” said Michael Stoess, a sophomore at the College. “Events like today really help students like me to get our foot in the door both through networking and resume building.”
