Bloomfield College Giving Day Raises Over $32,000

Bloomfield College Giving Day 2019

Bloomfield College celebrated its first-ever Giving Day on Wednesday, April 10. The day exceeded expectations with 200+ donors, which included members of the Board of Trustees, alumni, faculty, staff, students, and friends, raising over $32,000.

April 10 kicked off with a “Farewell Breakfast” for President Richard A. Levao, who will retire come June. Next, President Levao hosted his final “Pizza with the President.” The day came to a close with a “Giving Day Reception,” hosted in honor of the faculty, staff, and students who took part in Giving Day.

“It’s amazing what can happen when we come together as a community. Our first Giving Day was unforgettable,” said Nicole Quinn, Interim Vice President for Institutional Advancement.

Out of the 200+ donors, 74 were faculty and staff members. Nearly 50% of total donors were alumni of the College, many of whom were first time donors. The College also saw a high number of recent graduates take part in Giving Day and support their alma mater.

Leading up to the day, a special video was released featuring Dr. Fiona Harris, Assistant Professor of Rhetoric and Writing, Heinz Nordmann, maintenance, and senior Paola Tejada.

Donors were able to designate their support to a number of funds including the Bloomfield College Fund, President Richard A. Levao's retirement scholarship, all seven academic divisions, and Athletics. Increased participation, not the amount contributed, was the focus of Bloomfield College’s Giving Day.

“Participation is key. Every gift counts, from $1.00 to $300.00,” Dr. Harris said in the video.

Each of the individual gifts combined on April 10 to create a tremendous impact, which will strengthen Bloomfield College’s programs, scholarships, and more.

The College wishes to thank all donors for their support.
