Bloomfield College and Fairleigh Dickinson Sign PharmD Articulation Agreement

President Marcheta P. Evans, Dr. Maureen C. Grant, Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Jim Murphy, Chair, Division of Natural Science and Mathematics, signed an articulation agreement with Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) this week. The agreement will admit Bloomfield College students majoring in Biology or Chemistry/Biochemistry into the Fast Track to Pharmacy (PharmD) Program at FDU following their junior year at Bloomfield College. Dr. Michael J. Avaltroni, Dean, School of Pharmacy, and Gillian Small, University Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, at Fairleigh Dickinson University visited campus and participated in the formal signing of the agreement. 

“The Division of Natural Science and Mathematics can now offer a 3+1 program leading to a degree in Pre-Pharmacy. The major will have two tracks, Biology and Chemistry. This is a very attractive opportunity for our students which will lead to higher retention rates and very rewarding careers,” stated Division Chair Dr. Jim Murphy. 

In a memorandum to the Committee on Academic Programs and Faculty Council, students will spend their fourth year in the Fairleigh Dickenson Doctor of Pharmacy Program. The balance of courses needed to achieve Bloomfield College’s requirement of 32 courses will be made up by accepting first year Pharmacy courses from FDU, two courses of which will be in their major and the remaining free electives.
