Bloomfield College Honors CBS' Bill Whitaker, Raises $650,000 at 150th Gala

The Bloomfield College Sesquicentennial Gala was held on Saturday, December 1. Over $650,000 in net proceeds was raised toward student scholarships, making the black-tie celebration the largest fundraising event in the College's 150-year history.
 
Gala Honorees Jeh C. Johnson (Hon. '12), former Secretary of Homeland Security, and Bill Whitaker, of 60 Minutes and CBS News, received Presidential Medals of Excellence from Bloomfield College President, Richard A. Levao. Governor Murphy and First Lady Tammy Murphy were the evening's honorary chairs.
 
Chairman of the Board, William H. Turner, shared the news that a scholarship was established in honor of President Levao's upcoming retirement, after serving nearly 16 years as President. Live music played all night as Trustees, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends of the College dined, danced, and celebrated this major milestone for the College.
 
CBS' Jim Axelrod, a member of the College's Board of Trustees, served as Master of Ceremonies. Trustee Jacquie Colgan acted as Gala Chair. One full year of 150th Anniversary events was hosted by the College, thanks to the College's 150th Anniversary Committee, chaired by Trustees Rosemary Iversen and John Skowronski '91, culminating in an evening the College will never forget.
